Life Story
Douglass Christopher Miles, Sr., 72, of Crisfield, Maryland, departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, Delaware. He was born, December 25, 1950, to the late Olan O. Morgan and Dorothy O. Miles-Morgan.
Douglass accepted Christ at a young age. He was a member of St. Paul AME Church of Crisfield, Maryland, where he was a member of the Sons of Allen Choir. During his later adult years, he often attended New Jerusalem Church in Dover, Delaware.
In 1968, Douglass graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School. Douglass joined the United States Air Force in 1969 and served over 20 years until retirement in 2002. While serving his country, he also participated in the Vietnam War.
In 2010, Douglass happily married Sarah Cubbage and the two maintained their residence in Dover, Delaware. Douglass was a member of Crisfield Pride Lodge #194 and Grand Exalted Ruler Council #76. He served as Exalted Ruler at one time.

Douglass learned the craft of carpentry from his father. He loved carpentry, he was always building something marvelous to which was adorned around his home. Through his love for all genres of music; he honed his craft as a disc jockey, weekly, at the local Pride Lodge #194. Many who encountered Douglass knew he was a worldly man with knowledge and wit about a variety of topics from politics, fine dining, world events, and of course, sports (his beloved Eagles). Douglass maintained his faculties until the end, and he was determined to stay up with the times, just last year he took on the task of mastering using an Apple MacBook Pro, iPhone, and FaceTime to which he exceled.
Douglass leaves to cherish his memories to his: devoted wife, Sarah Miles of Dover Delaware; two daughters, Benita Cottman Coston (Franklin) of Hinesville, Georgia and Towan McBride of Salisbury, Maryland; three sons, Douglass C. Miles Jr. of Washington, DC, Sherome Harris (Tiffany) of Salisbury, Maryland and Christian Williams of Chestertown, Maryland; three stepsons, Derrick Cubbage (Connie) of Albany, Georgia, Kenneth Cubbage of Dover, Delaware and Demetrius Cubbage of Dover, Delaware; three sisters, Maxine Taylor of Crisfield, Maryland, Anne Steward (George) of Crisfield, Maryland and Veronica Morgan of Washington, DC; two Brothers, Anthony Jackson (Crystal) of Crisfield, Maryland and Dalmus Miles of Crisfield, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Cubbage of Dover, Delaware; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Cubbage (second father) of Dover, Delaware and Phillip Cubbage (Laverne) of Dover, Delaware; aunt-in-law, Marion Whittington (Irvin) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by one brother, Olan O. Morgan Jr.; two sisters, Cynthia Miles and Tammy Morgan Jackson; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Peggy) Cubbage, and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Cubbage.
