Life Story

Jada Lynn Brown, of Laurel, Delaware, departed this life on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Christiana Hospital. She was born in Dover, Delaware, to the late James Leon Brown, Sr., and Mary Ada (Bolden) Brown.

Jada was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware. She was employed at various jobs, but the one she enjoyed most was providing transportation.

Jada attended and served faithfully at First Pilgrim Baptist Church in Camden, Delaware, as a child and young adult. She enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the Usher Board. She also attended services at the Willow Grove location after her father, Deacon Brown, was sent to help start the church in that location.

From a child, Jada had the ability to bring joy to those she came into contact with and to brighten their day. When in her presence, smiles and laughter would usually abound. She was always willing to open her home to those in need, to share whatever resources she had. She enjoyed having a big Sunday breakfast with her family. She also enjoyed hanging out with loved ones, taking road trips, going fishing, and family gatherings. She loved people and people loved her. She believed in speaking her mind, but even if you got upset with her you didn't stay that way long.
Jada was preceded in death by her parents, her much loved brother, James Leon Brown, Jr. (aka JR); her son, Theodore West, Jr.; and many other loved ones.

Jada is survived by: her children, son, Joshua Brown and daughter, Jasmine Brown, both of Laurel, Delaware; the daughter of her heart, Sierra Flowers of Camden, Delaware; her step-mother, Elder Doris Brown of Camden, Delaware; godfather, Charles (Gene) Groce, Sr. of Camden, Delaware; sisters, Elder Barry Jones of Georgetown, Delaware, Tyonia Taylor Stevens of Georgetown, Delaware, Altamese Caldwell of Dover, Delaware, and Shanora Caldwell of Dover, Delaware; brothers, Russell Flowers of Camden, Delaware, Charles Locke of Baltimore, Maryland, Donald Locke of West Palm Beach, Florida, Diane Locke of Fayetteville North Carolina, and Darryl Caldwell of Dover, Delaware; nieces, Ericka Powell of Bridgeville, Delaware, Nicole Wright of Elkton, Maryland, Avis Foster of Harrington, Delaware, Guilaine Danjoint of Harrington, Delaware, Soncera Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland, and Shenita Murray of Laurel, Delaware; nephews, Apostle Darain Powell, Sr. of Wilmington, Delaware, and Dana Johnson of Dover, Delaware; and a host of other nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
