Life Story 

Margie K. Burton was born in Milford, Delaware, on Friday February 23, 1949, to the late Calvin and Susie Loper, Sr. Margie grew up in Lincoln, Delaware, attended William C. Jason High School and graduated from Milton High School in 1967.

 

As a teenager, Margie developed a love for music and began taking private piano lessons. She became a proficient pianist/organist and commenced playing at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member from childhood. For many years, Margie, a faithful servant, beautifully played hymns as the church organist.

Additionally, Margie had a special love for flowers and family. She met her husband, Melvin L. Burton, Sr., at the tender age of 15. After several years of dating, they wed on June 3, 1972, and from this union two children were born, Melvin Jr. and Tammy. Moreover, Margie was committed to her family as she worked 22 years at L. D. Caulk Dentsply and 16 years at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School.

 

Margie enjoyed laughing, being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Most of all, she loved the Lord, Jesus Christ. She will be immensely missed.

 

Margie was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Calvin and Susie Loper, Sr., and brother, John E. Loper.

 

Margie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Melvin Burton Sr.; one son, Melvin Burton Jr. of Lincoln, DE; one daughter, Tammy Moore (Darron) of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Adaiah, Keziah, and Prince Moore, all of Fayetteville, NC; one brother-in-law, Sidney Burton of Milford, DE; two sisters, Alice Harrison of Atlanta, GA; Dolly McCrea of Milford, DE; one brother, Calvin Loper Jr. of Lincoln, DE; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

We will forever keep, love, and cherish, her in our hearts.
